The Trails

Adventure At Every Level

Bike Glendhu is born to be shared by riders of all skill sets, whether it’s your first day on the trails or you’ve been around a berm or two. Our 30km network (with more to come in 2020!) of pedal-only trails wind and weave their way around 1000 hectares of Mother Nature’s best, as we’ve borrowed and blended to create a trail map she’ll be proud of.

Newbies can develop their skills on introductory loops, XC bikers will race each other on the ups and test themselves on dynamic downs, while enduro riders will be heard ‘whooping’ from the mountain tops. Or are the cool kids ‘yeeeewing’ these days? And because we’re all about bringing our riders together, many of our mountain bike trails can be tackled by different levels in different ways.

Whether you’re coming for a hard core shred or a Sunday ride, select the trail below for all the glorious details and get out here!

Motatapu Blue

STATUS / OPEN
Level / INTERMEDIATE
Length / 18.6
Elevation / 447m ascent and descent

Our all-encompassing Loop. A gentle purpose-built up-trail climbs from the base building through the trees to Jacks Spot, your first view over Glendhu Bay. From here you can choose from a range of descent options. Alternatively you can continue out towards Stags Point which provides views out towards Mahu Whenua and the Fern Burn. Follow the view of the Motatapu around the back of the hill towards Treble Cone where you'll find an epic view up the Matukituki River. One more push will get you to the top, where you'll pop over the summit and find an incredible view of Glendhu Bay looking back towards Wanaka. You'll want to spend some time here before tackling Upper Baywatch which will deliver you down to Boulders Cross - where you can decide which route you'll take down to base... or back up again!
