The crew went out with bikes today to test the trails and unfortunately, after Monday night/Tuesday’s rain (plus the rain that is forecast for this evening), the decision has been made to postpone opening a further week to Saturday, September the 12th.
We are hugely disappointed as we know there are so many of you keen to get back out on the trails as soon as possible, and we are ready to host you!
The trails are too damp and it’s not a great riding experience – with wheels sinking in sections the trail surface is going to get damaged and ruin the lips of the newly reshaped jumpline.
With a full week of spring winds and sunshine trails may still be damp next week, but dry enough that wheels will just help bed them in instead of tearing them apart.
We understand this isn’t awesome news. We’re still learning when and where the sun reaches each of the trails throughout the winter, and we have put in loads of drainage in order to speed up the drying process as much as we can.
Hopefully, tonight’s rain doesn’t end up being much but brings snow so we can at least get out skiing and boarding!
We massively appreciate your ongoing support and look forward to riding the trails with you again soon.
The BG team.
