Heli Bike

Heli biking at Bike Glendhu

Heli what?! Yep, heli biking. Catch a flight to the Falcon’s Nest at the summit of Bike Glendhu for incredible views and a heart-pounding lift.

Bike Glendhu is committed to an environmental focus with a goal to give back more than we take. All our heli trips are fully offset and this cost is automatically included in the trip price.

Your adventure begins at Base 334 where you’ll collect your passes and load up in the van shuttle. From here, you’ll take a short drive down the road to Aspiring Helicopters’ base, where you’ll load up the bikes and take off.

A short, but stunning scenic flight takes you over Rocky Mountain and Glendhu Bay, before you circle back for views down the Motatapu and Aspiring Valleys.

Scope out the trail from above before you finally land at the Falcon’s Nest. Your guide will provide a little history lesson, some tips and tricks for riding the trails down and of course, some good ol’ Kiwi banter.

Your trail pass is valid for the entire day, so after you’ve left the Falcon’s Nest, be sure to rip all the trails!

Please note this product is not available on a Sunday.

Heli Bike FAQs

The guided experience (from loading up at Base 334 to riding down to Jack’s Spot) will take about an hour. From there, you can do as many unguided laps as you’d like!

We recommend bringing a water bottle, weather-appropriate clothing (bring layers if it looks like a cooler day!), and a phone/camera to catch the action. If you plan on being out in the park for a while, it’s also a good idea to bring some snacks. You can store a small backpack/hydration pack on your lap in the heli.

Our trail from Falcon’s Nest is graded as intermediate (blue). The trail is 1.5km of super-fun flow with optional features, taking you down to Boulders Cross. From here, you can tackle some of the black trails or make your way down more blue trails to Jack’s Spot (blue and green trail options from Jack’s). Our guide can help you find a track suited for your level of riding.
